Education

I trained as an architect (of the building variety) at Clare College, Cambridge, and worked in practise for a couple of years before switching to programming over the course of 1998 and 1999. I later gained a BSc in Mathematical Sciences from the Open University.

Interests

Board Games

I am a keen board game player and for a while produced a podcast about board games. I am a semi-regular attendee at London on Board, and built the group's website to help with search engine discovery.

For a time I played a lot of Texas Hold'em and was the winner of the last Adobe-sponsored Poker Coder tournament.

Flying

I am currently learning to fly a light aircraft at Stapleford Flight Centre. Since starting, I have developed an application called PPL Tutor on conjunction with a flight instructor to help other students to pass their ground school exams.

Cycling

I am a keen cyclist, partly as a result of gaining entry into the Prudential Ride 100 in 2014 and the necessity to train seriously, and since then continuing the mileage with the 2015 London Revolution and 2015's Prudential 100. Most of my rides end up on Strava. I have developed a website and application called Halfway Coffee to help with finding cycle-friendly cafes when out on a ride.

Horse Riding

I take weekly horse riding lessons at Lee Valley Riding Centre and try to arrange an annual trekking holiday to somewhere exotic such as Jordan.
